THE HOOK — Why Rabbits, Why This

Logan Square Tattoo Rabbit Logo

Every Artist Has a
Rabbit Hole

Part of being an artist is having the need to go down rabbit holes. You catch an idea, and you have to chase it — down and down, past where it's comfortable, until it becomes something real. That's how tattoos get made. It's how our shop got built. And it's how every artist we admire found their voice.

So for National Tattoo Day, we leaned all the way in. Our flash is built around our rabbit — the little guy from our logo — reimagined a dozen different ways by our artists, plus a few other designs we couldn't help but chase. Every one of them started as somebody going down a rabbit hole and coming back with something worth putting on skin.

But here's the thing about rabbit holes: not everyone gets the room, the time, or the resources to follow theirs. That's exactly why we're partnering with the Chicago Art Department — to help fund the up-and-coming artists who deserve the chance to chase their own.

THE CAUSE — In Partnership With the Chicago Art Department

Funding the Artists Chasing What's Next

The Chicago Art Department is an artist-run nonprofit that's been at it since 2004, providing space and resources for civically-minded artists across the city. Through subsidized studio residencies, collective learning cohorts, and exhibitions rooted in justice, they give Chicago artists something rare and essential: the room to go all in on their work.

That mission lines up with everything we believe. Chicago's art and tattoo culture didn't come from nowhere — it was built by artists who were given a shot, and who then made room for the people who came next. We want to keep that going.

For every tattoo we do on July 17, half the price goes directly to the Chicago Art Department. Come get some ink you love, and help fund the artists shaping what Chicago makes next.

How the Flash Day Works

Simple: pick a rabbit (or one of the other designs we snuck in), get tattooed, and know that half of what you pay goes to a great cause.

  1. RSVP for first pick. Sign up and we'll email you the full flash sheet the night before, so you can pick your favorite before anyone else even sees it. RSVPs also get in at 11 AM — an hour before we open to walk-ins.

  2. Get tattooed for $100–$200. Every flash piece is priced between $100 and $200 depending on size and detail. No hidden fees, no surprises.

  3. Half goes to a good cause. 50% of every tattoo sale on July 17 is donated to the Chicago Art Department. Great ink, real impact.

Doors open at 11 AM for anyone who RSVP'd, then noon for walk-ins. We tattoo until 7 PM — or until we've gotten everyone we can. Designs are first come, first served, so RSVPing (and showing up early) is the best way to lock in the rabbit you've got your eye on.

Everyone's Entered to Win a $500 Tattoo Session

Here's the fun part. Every single person who gets tattooed OR donates on July 17 is automatically entered into a raffle to win a $500 custom tattoo session with Gifford Kasen — founder of Logan Square Tattoo and one of Chicago's go-to abstract and illustrative artists.

That's $500 toward the custom piece you've been dreaming about — your rabbit hole, chased all the way down — from an artist with over two decades of work under his belt. Get tattooed, drop a donation, or both — either way, you're in the running.

Good to Know - FAQ's

Logan Square Tattoo Rabbit Logo
  1. Do I need an appointment?
No appointment needed — this is a walk-in flash day. But RSVPing is worth it: you'll get the flash sheet emailed the night before to pick your design early, and you can come in at 11 AM (an hour before walk-ins) to skip the line. Designs are first come, first served.

  2. What do I get for RSVPing?
Two perks. First, we email everyone who RSVPs the full flash sheet the night before, so you can choose your design ahead of time. Second, RSVP guests get early access at 11 AM — walk-ins start at noon. It's the easiest way to beat the line and lock in the rabbit you want.

  3. How much will my tattoo cost?
Every flash design is priced between $100 and $200, depending on size and placement. 50% of whatever you pay goes to the Chicago Art Department.

  4. Are all the designs rabbits?
Mostly! The sheet is built around our rabbit logo, reimagined a bunch of different ways — but our artists snuck in a few other designs too. RSVP and you'll see the whole sheet the night before.

  5. What if I want something custom instead?
July 17 is all about the flash sheet, but if you fall in love with the shop and want something custom down the line, that's exactly what the $500 raffle session is for. Enter, and you might win it.

  6. Where does my money go?
Half of every tattoo sale — plus 100% of the $50 donations made through this page — supports the Chicago Art Department, an artist-run Chicago nonprofit that's been funding local artists since 2004.

  7. How do I get there?
We're at 2352 N Milwaukee Ave in Logan Square — an easy walk or transit ride from Wicker Park, Bucktown, Humboldt Park, Avondale, and Ukrainian Village. [Get Directions]
